Welcome
Licensed, Local and Trusted in St Ives
Same faces, same licence number, every visit. Ours is NSW electrical contractor licence #452529C, with Master Electricians Australia membership behind it.
St Ives is a leafy upper north shore family suburb on the bushland edge, and it is our home turf.
Big blocks, established gardens, and plenty of wiring older than the people living with it.
Every price goes on paper before we start: the price we quote is the price you pay. There is more on who you are dealing with.

Local knowledge
Local Knowledge, From Post-War Wiring to New Builds
St Ives was rural land until a 1959 rezoning turned it into a dormitory suburb.
That is why the stock leans post-war and mid-century: detached brick homes on large lots, wired for a household with a fridge, a kettle and not much else.
What that era left behind is predictable. A handful of circuits doing the work of a dozen, no dedicated run for the kitchen, and earthing that was fine by the standards of the day.
The pools are the giveaway. Big blocks here tend to come with one, and pool or spa gear wants a dedicated circuit of its own, bonded properly, with a safety switch (RCD) ahead of it.
Run the pump off a general power circuit and it is neither compliant nor safe. Worth having a residential electrician check it before anything else gets booked.
The newer end is a different job. Units and townhouses filled in around the local centre on Mona Vale Road and the St Ives Shopping Village, where boards are modern but access is tight and strata sign-off comes first.
Same suburb, opposite problems. Only the board tells you which one you have.
Why Locals Choose a Local St Ives Team
These houses get held for decades, mostly by the people living in them.
So the calculation changes. You are not shopping for the cheapest hour going; you want a sparkie still worth ringing when the kitchen finally gets done.
We Get There Quickly
Bookings are often same or next day, and we ring before we are late rather than after. If it is genuinely urgent, we shuffle the run to suit.
Covered for Life
There is a lifetime workmanship guarantee on everything we touch, and the certificate arrives by email once the job is signed off. Come back to us later and the labour to put it right costs you nothing.
$50 Off Your First Job
New customers take $50 off your first service. The price is agreed before any work starts, and a longer day on site does not change it.
Proof You Can Read Yourself
We have 600+ five-star reviews across Sydney, and they are the boring kind: turned up, explained it, cleaned up, charged what was quoted.
Helen, from our Google reviews, called us dependable and quick to work around a snag.
How we work
Our Process, From First Call to Handover
Same four steps on a single power point as on a full board swap.
At every one you know the state of play, the cost, and the finish time. No surprises on the invoice.
- 01
1. Tell Us What It Is Doing
Ring (02) 9538 7356 and describe it however you like; working out what it actually is happens to be our job. A real person answers the phone and will book you in for a time that suits, with a text reminder the day before.
- 02
2. We Look, Then We Price It
On site we open the board and test what actually needs testing, then you get a fixed written price before we start. If something nobody could have seen turns up, we stop, tell you what it means, and price it again.
- 03
3. The Work, Done Tidy
Drop sheets down and the place left tidy, premium Clipsal and Hager switchgear, not cheap imports. Walk in behind us and find a mess, and a professional cleaner comes back on our bill.
- 04
4. Tested, Certified, Handed Over
Every circuit is tested before we sign off. Then comes the Certificate of Compliance for notifiable electrical work, a set of photos, and a board labelled properly.
When You Need an Emergency Electrician
Some things cannot wait until Tuesday. That is what an emergency electrician is for.
These are the ones worth waking us for:
- A fishy or burning smell coming off the board, a switch or a socket
- Arcing, or a spark you can see when a plug goes in
- A safety switch (RCD) you reset and reset again
- Heat or scorch marks you can feel through a switch plate
- Half the house dead while the neighbours have lights
- Storm water getting into a ceiling fitting or the meter box
In St Ives, the summer storms build off the bushland catchments and the run-off finds every gap it can. Heavy tree cover does not help either: one branch across a service line takes out a single house, not the street.
So the first thing we ask is whether your neighbours still have power. If the whole street is dark, it is an Ausgrid network outage; everything from your board in is ours.
While you wait, turn it off at the switchboard if you can reach it safely.
Then call (02) 9538 7356. A licensed sparkie does the triage, not an operator, and bookings are often same or next day, with real danger jumping ahead.
What Cool Ridge-Top Winters Do to Old Circuits
This is a ridge suburb, sitting up around 171 metres, and the winters run noticeably cooler than the coast's.
That shows up as load. Heaters, reverse-cycle units and a hot water system working harder for four months of the year, all pulling through a board that was sized decades ago.
What we see in June and July: circuits that were fine in November start tripping. Nothing has broken; the demand has simply passed what the circuit was built to carry.
The fix is boring and permanent. A dedicated circuit for the big loads, an RCBO per circuit rather than one shared safety switch, and spare ways left for the next appliance.
Booked in March, a switchboard upgrade is a planned job. Left until July, it is a scramble.
Safe and Compliant on Every Job
Electrical work is one of the few trades where the mistakes stay quiet until they are not.
So the standards here are not a marketing line. They are the job.
Members of Master Electricians Australia
Membership means audited work, a code of conduct, and somewhere independent to go if you are ever unhappy with us. It is a check on us, not a badge for us.
Wired to AS/NZS 3000
AS/NZS 3000 is not something we aim at. It is the floor.
Every circuit we touch is left compliant and labelled clearly enough for whoever opens the board after us.
Fully Insured, Every Job
Insurance is the thing nobody asks about until the day it matters. Ours is current and checkable, and any sparkie who dodges the question should not be near your board.
Guaranteed, Not Just Promised
The lifetime workmanship guarantee is written down and it does not expire. You also get a 12-month product warranty, which sits over whatever the manufacturer already offers.

Servicing St Ives and Surrounding Suburbs
St Ives sits inside Ku-ring-gai Council. So do four of the five suburbs next door.

Common questions
Questions We Get Asked Most
The six that come up most before a booking. Anything else, ask on the phone; you will hear a straight answer, not a brochure.
Are your electricians licensed and insured?
Yes. Licence #452529C covers the electrical contracting, we carry public liability plus workers compensation on top, and you can look the licence up on the NSW register before we turn up.
What electrical services do you offer?
Boards, lighting, EV chargers, rewires and power points. Add fault finding, data cabling, smoke alarms, ceiling fans, and Level 2 accredited work covering your consumer mains and meter connection.
Is my old switchboard dangerous?
It depends what is in it. Plenty of houses untouched since the 1960s and 1970s build-out have no safety switches (RCDs) at all, and that matters far more than what the fuses look like.
Do I get a Certificate of Compliance after the work?
On notifiable electrical work, yes, and it is inside the price rather than an extra line at the end. It is lodged with NSW Fair Trading, and your copy arrives by email with the job photos.
How does your pricing work?
We don't charge by the hour. You get a fixed written quote on site, free, with no call-out fee for quoting, and the price is agreed before any work starts.
Is there an electrician near St Ives open on weekends?
For genuine emergencies, yes, someone licensed is reachable at any hour. Standard bookings run Monday to Friday, and the same run takes in Pymble, Gordon, Turramurra, Belrose and Killara, so next door is never a detour.
