Common questions

Money, Quotes and the $50 Off

How do I pay?

You don't owe a cent until the job's wrapped up and you've had a proper look. The price we quote is the price you pay, so the invoice matches what you agreed to at the start.

Do prices change once you start?

Your number is locked in the moment you accept it, whatever the job throws up along the way. Uncover something nobody could have predicted once a wall's open, and the job pauses there. You get a plain explanation and a chance to say yes before we go a step further.

Do you charge a call-out fee?

No call-out fee, full stop, whether the job goes ahead or not. Turning up to have a look and quote costs you nothing either way.

What does "$50 off your first service" cover?

It's $50 off whatever you book first with us, taken straight off the final invoice. It applies the same way to any first-time customer, whatever the job.

Common questions

Licensing and Safety

Can I do my own electrical work in NSW?

Straight answer: no. DIY electrical work is illegal in NSW beyond the simplest jobs. A bad connection behind a wall can sit there for years before it causes a fire, which is exactly why licensed sign-off and the paperwork that comes with it matter.

What is a safety switch (RCD) and do I need one?

Think of it as an automatic breaker for people, not just wiring. It trips the moment current finds a path it shouldn't, like through a person, before that turns into a shock. We recommend a safety switch on every circuit, not one lonely switch covering the whole board.

What is AS/NZS 3000?

AS/NZS 3000 is the wiring rulebook every electrician in the country works to, covering everything from how a circuit is run to how a switchboard gets built. It's not a suggestion, and every job we finish gets checked against it before we sign off.

What brands do you install?

We only fit Clipsal and Hager switchgear, plus SAL and Beacon Lighting fixtures. Not cheap imports, not ever.

Common questions

When We Can Come

How soon can you fit me in?

For a standard booking we're often same or next day, though it comes down to what's already on the books that week. A genuine emergency moves straight to the front and gets a call back fast.

What counts as an electrical emergency?

Sparking power points, a burning smell from a switch, wiring you can see, or the whole house going dark all count as genuine emergencies. If in doubt, switch the circuit off at the board and give us a call, we'll talk you through it either way.

How fast can you get here?

It depends how packed the week already is and how urgent your job is. A genuine emergency goes to the front of the line, and for anything else we'll give you an honest window on the phone rather than a vague promise.

How do I book?

Ring (02) 9538 7356 and a real person answers the phone, not a call centre. Give us the short version of the problem and we'll book you in for a time that suits, or jump straight to it if it's a genuine emergency.

Common questions

Local Answers for St Ives

Do you know St Ives's housing stock?

St Ives shifted from rural land into a dormitory suburb after the 1959 rezoning, and most of the older stock is brick on a large block from that build-out. Later unit and townhouse infill sits closer to the local centre, and we work across all of it.

Can you handle new builds and renovations here?

Yes, from a single circuit through to a full rewire on a bigger renovation. St Ives sits on the Garigal bushland edge, so outdoor and garden circuit work gets timed around bushfire-season vegetation management along that boundary.

Do you work on strata and unit properties?

St Ives runs mostly low-density with detached houses, but there are pockets of units and townhouses dotted through the suburb, and we handle that strata work too. The only real difference on one of those jobs is who signs the paperwork before we start.

What suburbs do you service?

Home turf is St Ives, and the same crew covers Pymble, Gordon, Turramurra, Belrose and Killara on identical standards and pricing.
